I entered the Methodist ministry in September 1992 having been called by God ‘to serve Him full time’.

I trained as a chartered quantity surveyor at the Leeds College of Building (now the Metropolitan University) from 1963-68 and worked in The City Architects Department until becoming fully qualified and a chartered Surveyor in 1969. I had experience as an associate partner in a very large firm of quantity surveyors until leaving to become a director of a property development company in 1974. In 1975 I had my own company which I ran until 1988 involved in many large commercial schemes and project management. During this time I felt called as a Christian to serve as a Sunday School teacher, youth club leader and then as a local preacher.

My eldest son died of cancer in 1986 after a relatively short illness. That experience and his unswerving witness and faith made a huge impact on me. I helped lead a number of mission teams over the next few years and the experience of being ‘born again’ and receiving the baptism of the Spirit led me into new areas of ministry and preaching as a lay person.

One morning in June 1990 I was walking to work very early in the morning when God spoke to me audibly and asked me ‘Andrew, who are you working for?’. I said ‘You Lord’ and he said in that knowing yet loving voice ‘Are you?’ I realised that I had been trying to serve two masters and pleasing neither for a number of years. I immediately offered for full time ministry. My father had been a Methodist minister and although I rebelled in my teenage years I felt as if I had ‘come home’ once I began my ministry as an ordained Methodist minister. Throughout this time, I was supported and encouraged by my wife Pam, who sadly died very suddenly in November 2003. Although I was prepared to continue to serve God wherever He might send me I settled for being a granddad and dad to my daughters Julianne and Felicity. God, however had other plans!

In 2005 I married Joan and gained two more ‘daughters’. Prophetic words spoken over me in the middle 90’s about an international ministry soon were fulfilled and since then I have preached and taught in USA, Singapore, Slovakia and the Czeck Republic. I love the new freedom of ‘retirement’ and the challenge of working with men and women of God as they lead their churches into the fullness of God’s Kingdom here on earth.

When I moved to Hampshire in 2001 I began a new phase of ministry teaching at Christ for the Nations UK. The privilege of teaching (on my day off) inspired me to develop many subjects to teach on and to share my experience of the gifts of The Spirit. This has part of the way God has led me into writing since I retired in August 2009.
